ABOUT ANDY

Hi, I hope you enjoy reading about the racing history and exploits of one of BriSCA's lower grade drivers.  A brief history of 'This is Your Life' about Andy:  - Andy is 35 years young and is married to Sam and has six children; Andrew Jnr, Alissa, Felicity, Nathan, Mark and Samuel.  Andy first started going to Stock Car meetings in 1974 to the old Belle Vue, White City and Nelson tracks.

Andy first started racing Stock Cars in 1991.  It was a case of 'I would like a go at that' and he did in the F2's under the number 693.  Andy progressed to yellow grade in this formula and took his first of many wins in Stock Cars at Buxton's Hi Edge Raceway.

In 1996 after 5 years in the F2's, Andy decided to move into F1's, and in his first season of racing F2's he carried on racing his F2 also.  Andy had an excellent first season in the F1 in the ex-Paul Harrison No. 2 Paul Pennington Car No. 382.  In his first ever meeting at Stoke, he rolled the car over.  (This has been the only time Andy has rolled a Stock Car.)  From that meeting on, the season got better and better.  Andy qualified for the UK Open, British Championship and the World Semi-Final at Long Eaton, where he finished the race 9th and qualified for the World Final.  Andy finished the World Final in 13th, a brilliant achievement in his first season. Since 1996 Andy has qualified for eight other semi-finals but unfortunately no more World Finals.  Hopefully, this year that will change.

Andy's favourite track is Sheffield, although he has won on most shale tracks.  Andy did say he like Stoke before sadly it was lost from the F1 scene, as in his own words, 'It was a real driver's track!'.

The highest grade Andy has achieve in F1 is blue, but he missed out on red grade a couple of times by only a handful of points.

Andy says he is in his 19th year and still enjoys his racing and meeting new people.  So, next time you are in the pits, be sure to pop round and say 'Hi'.
