It has been a busy time in the garage since the last update. All the engine parts had arrived by Monday (30th March) and Andy has spent the last couple of days fitting them and putting the engine back together. Today it was finally finished and Andy started the engine and had the car running. Andy was very happy with the way it sounded and is looking forward to the forthcoming weekends racing at Coventry.
March 22nd 2009
It has been a busy week in the Garage since Andy raced at Belle Vue. We were not happy with the way the engine was performing last time out so the engine has now been stripped down and it has been decided to fit new bearings along with new rings, gaskets and a new oil pump. A new balance wheel is also going to be fitted. A new carburetor has been ordered to try and sort the fuel problem. When all this work has been completed a new distributor, leads and coil pack are to be fitted. Before the next meeting new rose joints also need to be fitted to the steering. If everything goes to plan and all the parts are delivered in time it will be a busy 12 days in the garage as we are aiming to be back out racing at Coventry on April 4th.
March 17th 2009 After the first meeting of the season at Belle Vue there is a bit of work to be done to the car before its next outing as it has encountered a few battle scars. A new side rail may be fitted a new wheel on the back is required the electrics/ ignition need checking over along with the carburetor problem that the car was suffering from at Belle Vue.
MARCH 3rd 2009 The car has now returned from being sign written and I think you will agree it looks excellent. There is a couple of pics below but more in the Gallery section. The car is now ready for the start of the season so we will see you all at Belle Vue on March 15th. FEB 24th 2009 The car has now gone away to be sign written as soon as it has returned and I have been over to the 493 workshop I will post the pics on here first for you all to see. FEB 9th 2009 I went up to the 493 workshop and took some photos so everyone can see now how the car looks after its extensive refurbishment. Hope you enjoy the pics. FEB 1st 2009 All panels have been resprayed and lacquered. The car is now ready for sign writing. The seat and seat belts have been refitted. All the electrics have been refitted. The radiator has been refitted along with the fuel tank etc. Once everything was rechecked and deemed tight (nuts, bolts, wires, hoses etc.) the car was then started up and steering tested.
JAN 29th 2009
Since Belle Vue, Christmas 2008, the car has undergone an extensive refurbishment. The car has been completely stripped down including removing the axles, fuel tank, steering, seat, electrics etc. Some parts of the car have been sand blasted and new bumpers and side rails have been fitted. The car has also had new bearings, nuts and bolts fitted. The chassis will be repainted in the blue that can be seen on the front bumper, which is a new colour from the dark, nearly black, colour used in 2008.
